Sands Grill Restaurant Old Course Hotel St. Andrews

When we arrived in St. Andrews in the Kingdom of Fife, we just checked-in at the New Hall of the University of St. Andrews, rested for a while, and then went around the area afterwards.

Then, we went for dinner at the Sands Grill Restaurant at the Old Course Hotel, a Golf Resort and Spa in St. Andrews overlooking the 17th hole of the St. Andrews Links Old Course.

I thought that the Old Course Hotel was part of the St. Andrews Links Trust. We were told later on that the hotel was not at all part of St. Andrews Links Trust.

We ordered trio of Scottish salmon, cold smoked, hot smoked and gravadlax for starters. I ordered slow braised blade of beef with horseradish mash and roasted spring vegetables and Hub ordered New York cut strip loin for the main course.

With that, we ordered a South African red wine, a Rhebokskloof Pinotage 2006. Later on, I ordered Sands classic tiramisu with almond and hazelnut biscotti for dessert.

The beef was so tender! One of the best that I ever ate. The knife was almost not needed for cutting the meat, the fork alone would suffice.

Everything was really good, the starters, the main course, the wine and the dessert!

That was definitely a great dinner!
